Introducing The Lantern Exchange
One of the things I’ve learned over the past year is that not everything of value can be measured in dollars. Some of my favorite things in this shop have never come from a catalog. They’ve been picked up from old farms, gifted by friends, found in forgotten places, gathered from the woods, or made by hand after hours of experimenting at my workbench.
Every one of them has a story.
I’ve always believed that stories, skills, art, and handmade things carry their own kind of value. Sometimes they’re worth far more than the price tag on a shelf. That’s why I’m introducing The Lantern Exchange.
The Lantern Exchange is a barter program for selected handmade Apothecary items. Instead of purchasing with money alone, you can propose a trade.
Maybe you’ve written down your family’s old folk remedies or local ghost stories. Maybe you’re an artist, a woodcarver, a blacksmith, or a potter. Maybe you gather botanicals responsibly, preserve pieces of local history, or have a curiosity that deserves another life.
I can’t promise every proposal will be accepted, but I can promise every one will be read by a real person—me. If your trade is a good fit, we’ll work out an exchange together. I like the idea that a handmade candle might someday sit on a shelf beside a story from someone’s grandmother. Or that a piece of local history could find a home here in exchange for something I created with my own hands. That feels more meaningful to me than simply processing another order.
The Lantern Exchange isn’t about getting things for free. It’s about recognizing that people have different gifts to offer, and that sometimes the most valuable things can’t be scanned at a cash register. If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, I’d love to hear what you have to share.
